What sets Southern Wake Middle School apart?
Small Class Sizes:
The average class size for the middle school is 23 students. SWA is known for the personal relationships and strong connections built between students and staff. A major factor in the small community feel of the school are the class sizes.
Co-teaching Model:
The middle school at SWA prides itself on small group instruction for students. We tailor learning to each individual student. It is not uncommon to see our staff collaboratively co-teaching a math or reading class. This allows us to really get to know the needs of each student and teach them on their educational level.
Specials Classes:
SWA boasts a variety of specials classes where students can explore their passions and interests. These classes include:

Curriculum:
SWA follows the standard course of study provided by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. While SWA provides teachers the flexibility to create their own curriculum tied to these state standards, some of the programs we use to support instruction are:
