Student Community Service Opportunities

Engaging in community service provides students with the opportunity to become active members of their community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large.  Community service not only provides a service to those who need it most but enables students to acquire:

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎•  Communication Skills

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎•  Leadership Skills

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎•  Problem Solving Skills

SWA Community Service Hour Requirements:

All students are required to complete community service as part of the commitment to Southern Wake Academy.

These hours are a portion of their portfolio grade:

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎•  Grades 6, 7, & 8 – all students are required to obtain 15 hours of community service hours per year.

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎•  Grades 9, 10, 11, & 12 – all students are required to obtain 30 hours of community service hours per year.
