Southern Wake Academy Athletics

Southern Wake Academy recognizes the important relationship between academics and athletics, and we strongly believe that regular exercise, development of skills, and interscholastic athletic competition play critical roles in each student’s growth.  The Athletic Department recognizes and supports the primary responsibility of student athletes is education and therefore supports the link of academic achievement to eligibility.  Our sports program helps nurture integrity, pride, loyalty and overall character which builds school spirit.

‏‏‎ Athletic Announcements:

Parents and Potential Student-Athletes,

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer months and are looking forward to an exciting and successful 2022-2023 school year. Our Fall Sports Season is right around the corner. Athletic tryouts, practices and games will begin before our student-athletes first day back on campus (Wednesday-August 17th). If your child is interested in participating in a Fall Sport they must have an updated physical, concussion form and all completed documentation required from NCHSAA and NCDPI in order to be eligible to participate in all sports offered by Southern Wake Academy. ALL state required forms/documentation can be found under the “Athletics tab” located on the school website.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association and NCDPI are transitioning to a new software system (DragonFly).  DragonFly will be used in a similar way that Maxpreps and FinalForms have been used in the past. EVERY STUDENT ATHLETE PAST OR NEW MUST CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND UPLOAD ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:

This year it is the student-athlete/parents/legal guardians responsibility to create an account on the DragonFly website. Once an account is created all required documentation needs to be uploaded onto the DragonFly software system and their account affiliated with Southern Wake Academy. All required documentation can be located under the “Athletics” tab on the school website: Please make sure that this is completed before the first official tryout date or your child will not be allowed to participate in tryouts/fall sport season.

Parents: This website can be used to help create an account and profile for your student-athlete: www.dragonflymax.com/academy/parents again, please make sure you affiliate your student-athlete with Southern Wake Academy.

After uploading your documents on DragonFly, a paper hard copy of all completed paperwork must then be turned into:  Athletic Director: Rick Cross
