SWA will be administering the NCDPI mandated PreACT assessment to all eligible tenth grade students on Thursday, October 31st.   Please take note that this is a PORTFOLIO DAY, but ALL 10th grade students MUST attend to take part in this assessment. Tenth grade students should arrive on campus at 8 am so that testing can begin promptly.  

 

Students should bring & use an approved calculator. The current ACT calculator policy is available at:

The PreACT is a timed assessment. The time allowed for each test is: 

Test 1, English: 30 minutes

Test 2, Math: 40 minutes

Test 3, Reading: 30 minutes

Test 4, Science: 30 minutes

Students will be released at the end of the assessment, around 11 am, unless they are allowed extra testng time based on a current IEP.   

 

The PreACT assessment includes a pretest portion that will not be available to students through the state test administration. Parents and students can, however, voluntarily access and complete the information that is included in this pretest portion and create an ACT profile at the following website:

Students in grades 10-12 will have the opportunity to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) twice this school year.
The first opportunity will be on December 3 beginning at 8:30 am.  May 5th will be the second opportunity to take the exam.  Students may take the exam more than once and it is free.  
 
The ASVAB is a timed multi-aptitude test, which is given at over 14,000 schools and Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide and is developed and maintained by the Department of Defense.

**And as a new service for our students this year, ASVAB testing personnel will return to campus January 8th at 6 pm to INTERPRET student exam results.  Both parents and students who took the exam in December will be welcome to come to this event.**
